Norrona – cycled around the world
I know, I just talked about how well-trained and nice the Norrona sales guy was (here). When I walked out of their shop in Stockholm, I actually liked the brand about 68% more than before. My closet is full of blacks, whites, browns, jeans and greys. At the sight of their colors I used to reach for my sunglasses.
However, their latest advertisement really made me blink. Are they serious? Read the rest of this entry »
Monocle inspite of snooze
I was about to declare this little paragraph finished when I realized the picture below wouldn’t give anyone a good start to their day. I strongly believe in the power of visuals and have therefore replaced it with a much more appealing Marlene. This is about how Monocle makes me read an entire issue covered with men in dirty shoes. Mc Donalds and how a book covers the fat kid
Mc Donalds has now hit Germany with its book campaign. With every Happy Meal kids get a free book. Sounds like a wonderful idea to reach the less fortunate with some education. They did the same thing in Sweden a couple of years back and I couldn’t find many who complied with my distaste for this kind of branding. Now I gladly see that Foodwatch shares my concern in an open letter and even SPIEGEL takes up the story.
I can see how this came into being. Mc Donalds marketing person asks their (probably PR) agency Read the rest of this entry »
Fruit styling – a recap
The swedish speaking community has already given this some attention and with the latest spread to the car industry, I think fruit-styling deserves a translation.
Selling your place requires serious styling in Stockholm. All apartments and houses are so white and light and fresh and modern, there is no chance you will get a good price when your house looks like your house. Read the rest of this entry »
Not your life – but what it could smell like
Just a short one today. Something Johnny found and I thought was worth translating. Some copy for a place called PAPERCUT.
You are born. You learn to walk. You start school. You fall in love. You get dumped. You get up again. You fall in love again. You get dumped again. You go on. You steal a chocolate cookie. You get caught. You are ashamed. You get tired about being ashamed. You run away. You become an exchange student. You get in trouble. You get sent home again.
You fall in love. Read the rest of this entry »
Impressions with mirrors
I have now officially had the most remarkable hotel experience ever. Adam & Eve claims to be heaven on earth and the song they have on eternity loop in the lobby confirms that “you can never leave” either. Their concept is to take their guests to another world i.e. confuse them to the max and start with using mirrors instead of wallpaper. Read the rest of this entry »
King Kungen König – media gone mad
This time I managed to react before I got complaints from Berlin about not writing about the hottest Swedish subject. The scandal has moved to phase two. Like the Royals I have kept my mouth shut and watched, but it is really starting to get to me. Not the possibility of the Swedish King having visited shady places. Not some mysterious images of something possibly dirty. Read the rest of this entry »
Three shortcuts to enlightenment and one Hallelujah
I have been back home for a while now. Got back into my shoes, bought a subway ticket and ironed my shirts. With all wisdom collected during the past weeks, I did however not want to leave you unaware of the newest developments from the universe of salvation. Read the rest of this entry »
Hugging, kissing, talking – the wonders of international hello
I used to wonder where she is every so often, raising my head from the laptop. But today I found out that it can be beneficial to have Sara home in bed with newspapers and tea. It makes me support those media clipping services who claim that no computer can replace a reading human being. Of course they can’t. They can’t replace a human being making Bi-Bim-Bap either.
