International workmen, Barcelona dust and changing perspective

London front door

I have never lived in London for more than two weeks but spent a bit of time there, especially with the headquarter of my last employer being in the UK. During that time I strongly experienced how different (working) cultures are – and how I was stuck as a German between the Swedish and the English one.

Nordic mañana

Det fixar vi sen.

“They are kicking us out of the apartment!”

“Boat sinking now!”

“The city hall is on fire!!”

“What? Where? What can I do?” would be an expected reaction. And the Prussian part of me instantly throws a net of structure over the situation to identify priorities and a timing for solving the mess. Whereas many of  P’s fellow countrymen easily switch to relax-mode. This might come as a surprise to many, but there are quite some soft beats and ganja in the Swedish soul. Sensitive bankers and Sonja Catani

Today’s inspiration: Sonja Catani and the latest bank bankruptcy. HQ lost its license for banking a couple of days ago, and that means trouble when you are a bank. A couple of days later the organization was bought by Carnegie, which is a good thing, since they have been through the same vale of tears and certainly can be of emotional support.
